New Spaces

By June 10, 2019 No Comments

Change is already here for the Lutheran Center community. Because we are preparing to have the long-standing, beloved building massively renovated, the students and staff, in the meantime, will call St Mark’s on the Campus and The Foundry home during the 2019-2020 school year.

We practiced lounging and worshipping at St. Mark’s all of UNL’s dead week. The congregation has graciously made space for us, allowing us to move some of our lounge furniture into their student center, use their kitchen to make coffee, tea, and lunches.

While this was a particularly difficult trial run for a lot of us, Father Jerry and Bill, the Parish Administrator, have made this change quite easy so far. Each time we wondered if we might do this or make space for that, they responded with warm hospitality.

Not only will our students need a place to worship and hang out, but we need office space. Starting June 1 the professional staff began to office at The Foundry, and we will remain there until the new building is complete. Luckily, The Foundry is only one block from St. Mark’s making it quite easy to walk back and forth for morning prayer and lunch-time hangs.

We look forward to all the possibilities that being without a building brings. New ideas for ministry are being developed, and we are excited to see where the Holy Spirit is leading us during this time of exile.

Join us this summer at St. Marks’ on the Campus (1309 R St) on Sundays at 6 pm for Grill & Prayer. Bring your own meat or veg! We will share a meal and then have evening worship.

Connecting people to Christ, so they may discover their own calling as disciples.
